New Web Site

by Web developer - 14:58 on 27 October 2007

This is the first entry on the new Weare Village Web Site.

I have prepared a number of pages, and added some text and pictures, to stimulate comment.

Do you think we should have a village web site?  What should it contain?  Is anyone prepared to assist with maintaining the site?  Should we have a calendar? (I have activated one, and added a couple of items so that you can see what it looks like.)

I would love to hear your views, but please appreciate that everything on the site so far is to show an example of what it might look like - it is not a finished site.  The page colours can be changed, the banner can be made more exciting, and I am prepared to do this if people think having a site is a good idea.

I have created an e-mail for the web site - weare.somerset@gmail.com.  Please either comment on this blog, or use the web site to let me know what you think.    AB

Hi Ailene, you've made a great start to your web site but I couldn't help smiling when I read your request for help and comments from others. If my experience is anything to go by you'll find you'll get very little help at all. Generally people don't wish to comment and are not prepared to air their views. Don't let that stop you though, just press on regardless and make it your view of the village. Go everywhere with your camera and attend as many village functions as you can and report them on the site. Don't be afraid to ask the local paper for permission to reprint anything they might carry that has local interest - they usually say yes. Good luck, and when the going gets tough - don't give up!

Come on Weare! Let's prove Brian wrong. Actually, he has an impressively designed site for his village, so something for us to aim at. AB

Looking good. I like the changes you have made since I last looked. I have plenty of old photos from the Open Gardens. Will chat to you about it when I next see you.

Well done. This is super - even if it is not the "finished product". If requested I'll certainly take responsibility for looking after the church side of things. Could we perhaps scan the issues of "Contact" in as a PDF File ?

Ken,
I would like to speak to the Contact editorial team about how we can incoporate it - perhaps even a similar web site, which all the villages could access direct or as a link to their own village web site.

Well done Ailene I think having a village web-site is a brillant idea and I'm sure with your flair and enthusiasm
it will succeed.

Very nice to have this web site, well done to the organisers. I have several photo's that may be of interest and I love photography so would be happpy to take photo's at any event. A good way to keep all informed of the goings on in the village.

Thanks Maggie, it would be good to see your photos, and add them to the site.

This is great! Well done for getting this off the ground. I'm looking forward to seeing the Medieval Night photos!
I think a calendar would be a very useful part of the website as it can be updated easily - it would be a good additional way of keeping people up to date with events.
I'd be happy to help in some way - will speak to you soon.

Is someone able to take photos of the Christmas tree lighting up? They ll compliment the medieval supper ones!

A brilliant idea. Very many thanks for all your hard work Aileen. The photos are fascinating and this is a great way to know what is going on in our village.

Thanks to everyone who helped with setting up the Christmas tree event this year, particularly to the anonymous donor of a generous sum which enabled us to buy the lights. Thanks also to all the people who came along and made it such a good evening.

Well done Ailene, a very good start and definitely worth continuing. The calendar is very useful. I am sure that many people, includinbg us, will be happy to provide photographs, old and new.

ailene
it is a really good website. I once said to my mum "wouldn't it be weird if weare was on the internet", and now that weare is (how 'weared' is that!) I really like it. It could win any competition!!!
I am coming to help tomorrow at the field.

Ailene you have done a great job for the village with the web site and much improved since we last looked. I hope people will check out the Neighbourhood Watch page and follow the advice given.
