Friends of Weare Church
Please help to preserve our church for future generations.
The Friends Of Weare Church - a registered charity - is a trust formed to raise money for the maintenance, repair and improvement of St. Gregory’s Church.
The present church was built in about 1480, although the older Norman font remains. There are many interesting features, including a Jacobean chest now used as the communion table and if you look closely on the south west corner of the tower you will see markings of ancient sun dials.
We are fortunate that we are still able to enjoy this fine building which has been cared for by previous generations, some of whom have families still living in the area.
The church is an essential part of our community’s history as well as a place for worship and reflection today, however the upkeep and preservation is an ongoing process.
